Robert A. Clifford, partner at Clifford Law Offices of Chicago, serves as the Illinois State Delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates. He was inducted in 2005 and has begun his third three-year term in 2011.
The House of Delegates is the policymaking body that makes recommendations to the ABA House of Governors on various issues that impact the 435,000-member national organization as well as all practicing attorneys across the country.
Mr. Clifford serves as Chair of the Standing Committee on Strategic Communications. He also was selected to serve as Special Advisor to the ABA President, Tommy Wells, for the 2009 Annual Meeting in Chicago.
He has had many other significant appointments and positions at the ABA including serving as Chair of the Task Force on Hurricane Katrina as well as Chair of the Task Force on Terrorism and the Law. He was elected Chair of the Section of Litigation, the ABA’s largest section with some 70,000 members in 2001-02.
