“The Impact of Dark Money and Judicial Elections and Judicial Behavior” is the topic to be discussed at the 23rd annual Clifford Symposium on Civil Justice. The free program has been approved for 8.5 hours of continuing legal education credit.
The two-day symposium will be held April 20-21 at DePaul University, One E. Jackson Blvd., Room 8005, Chicago. Professor Emeritus and Director of the Symposium, Stephan Landsman, gathered two dozen leading academics in this field from around the country to discuss this timely issue. The speakers include Professor Richard Briffault, Columbia Law School; Professor Tom Tyler, Yale Law School; Professor Anthony Kreis, IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law; Professor Bradley Wendel, Cornell Law School; Professor Emeritus Marc Galanter, University of Wisconsin Law School; Sanford Gordon, New York University Department of Politics and Alyssa Katz, author of “The Influence Machine.”
Also among the speakers include a panel of judges who have dealt with the challenges of big money campaigns including former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Louis Butler, former Iowa Supreme Court Chief Justice Marsha Ternus, retired Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman of the New York Court of Appeals and former Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Oliver Diaz.
