Robert A. Clifford, senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, received the 2014 American Inns of Court Foundation Professionalism Award for the Seventh Circuit Monday night at the Radisson Blu hotel in Chicago to a packed crowd of more than 500 lawyers and judges.
Clifford, who was President of the Chicago Inn of Court from 1994-95, was presented with the award at the Seventh Circuit Judicial Conference by Seventh Circuit Judge Joel Flaum. Clifford was selected from a national panel of members of the American Inns of Court Awards Committee that included Justices from the Supreme Courts of Delaware and Tennessee as well as from various U.S. Courts of Appeal.
The award is given to a lawyer whose life and practice has demonstrated, “sterling character and unquestioned integrity, couple with ongoing dedication to the highest standards of the legal profession and the rule of law.”
Clifford will be recognized at the American Inns of Court annual Celebration of Excellence at the Supreme court of the United States Oct. 25 with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg serving as host of the black tie event.
“I am deeply humbled by this most prestigious award,” Clifford said upon learning of his selection. “I try to live my professional life every day as a commitment to my love of the law and in mentoring those around me.”
For the past seven years, Clifford Law Offices, a continuing legal education provider in Illinois, has presented an annual two-hour free program for all lawyers in Illinois, which also has been approved for credit in various other states. More than 2,600 lawyers and judges attended the program this past February in what is believe to be one of the largest single CLE programs during the year.
