Legal experts, scholars, and students gathered to explore the topic of “The Supreme Court, Business and Civil Justice” at the 21st Annual Clifford Symposium on Tort Law and Social Policy. The free event was held at DePaul University College of Law in April 2015.
The Symposium discussed the United States Supreme Court’s rulings on corporate interests and business entities, the subsequent influence on matters of corporate law, regulation, and a broad range of civil justice issues. As reported by DePaul Alumni News, “Twenty-two scholars from around the country discussed what the symposium termed ‘dramatically altered federal civil procedure and the changing tort law landscape.’”
Organized by its director, Professor Stephan Landsman, Clifford Tort Symposiums bring the most modern scholarship and advances in legal practice to lawyers, as well as scholars, who specialize in tort law, civil justice, and other related fields. Academics from around the country gather for the program each year.
Other topics over the past 20 years included “In Honor of Jack Weinstein,” “Brave New World: The Changing Face of Litigation and Law Firm Finance,” and “A Celebration of the Thought of Marc Galanter.”
