A packed room watched at the Palmer House in Chicago as Robert A. Clifford, founder and senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, and his wife Joan accepted the Distinguished Service Award from the Lawyers for the Creative Arts (LCA).

The couple received the Award for their involvement and philanthropic contributions to the arts in Chicago, particularly the Goodman Theatre where Joan served as President of the Board for three years, and for their sustained work over the years with the Naples Wine Festival in Florida where proceeds go to help the under privileged children in Southwest Florida. They also are very active in other areas of the arts in the Chicago area including the opening of the Alice Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement and initial sponsors, for more than a decade, of closed captioning for local programming on Chicago’s public television station, WTTW. Bob Clifford serves on the Boards of WTTW-Channel 11 and WFMT radio.

Kevin Conway, partner at Cooney and Conway in Chicago and LCA Board of Directors member, extended the award to the couple at a luncheon Thursday. The event was laced with performers including the Forward Momentum Chicago dance group made up of Chicago high school students involved in the After School Matters program. Their executive director, Pierre Lockett, also received an award at the luncheon as well as Josephine Lee of the Chicago Children’s Choir, and Carol Anne Been, partner at Dentons and Past President of the LCA.
