Observers are saying it was nothing short of a miracle when all 103 aboard an Aeromexico flight survived the crash of Flight AM2431 Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

Investigators have located the black boxes of the jet that was flying from Guadalupe Victoria International Airport in Durango to Mexico City when it crashed in stormy weather about 4 p.m. Mexico time.

All aboard the Embraer 190 jetliner were able to escape, some with very serious injuries, before the left engine of the plane burst into flames. It is reported that at least 65 Americans were aboard, including many from Chicago who arrived at O’Hare International Airport last night to tearful reunions with relatives.

It could take months for investigators to uncover the probable cause of the crash. Dramatic video of the aftermath showed a horrific scene of survivors limping and being helped away from the scene, the plane coming to rest about 300 yards from the runway. Stories of heroes helping others escape including the trapped pilot have been reported in the media.

Experts are questioning why the plane took off at all for the two-hour flight. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has sent investigators to assist in the efforts.
