Robert A. Clifford, founder and senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, spoke at the RAND Institute for Civil Justice symposium on October 3-4, 2023 at the RAND Corporation in Arlington, VA.
The topic of the 2023 symposium, “Balancing the Needs of Requesting and Producing Parties: Getting E-Discovery Right” covered December 2015 changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure’s discovery-related provisions, and the subsequent implications for how litigants operate in federal civil cases, as well as the pros and cons of protocols used to manage the discovery of electronically stored information (ESI) and the most appropriate ways to validate the quality of a document.
Bob joined leaders in the legal, judicial, academic, and policy communities to participate in six panels over the two-day event. Topics of discussion included, “Quantifying the Unquantifiable: How do the Parties, Their Counsel, and the Courts Assess Proportionality?” and “ESI Protocols: Promise vs. Reality.” Panelists include The Honorable Joy Flowers Conti, Senior District Judge, United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and The Honorable Iain D. Johnston, District Judge, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
