The American Association of Justice (AAJ) is awarding Robert A. Clifford, founder and senior partner at Clifford Law Offices, the annual Lifetime Achievement Award for 2020.
The award is given to an AAJ member annually “whose courtroom advocacy has, during a distinguished career, significantly advanced the rights of the wrongfully injured, and who by substantial service to AAJ and the trial bar, has significantly furthered the cause of justice and the mission of the Association.”
Clifford, who has been a member of AAJ since becoming a lawyer more than 40 years ago, has represented many high-profile clients in complex personal injury and wrongful death cases including serving as Lead Counsel in the consolidated litigation in federal district court involving the crash of a Boeing 737 MAX airliner in Ethiopia.
“I’m very humbled to be recognized for this award,” Clifford said of the Lifetime Achievement Award that has been given since 1998. “I always have believed that representing victims of wrongful conduct is a most honorable profession, and I try to practice it daily with dignity and encourage respect for the law, and AAJ is at the forefront of helping victims of wrongful conduct achieve that respect through our civil justice system.”
He will be presented with the award during the virtual Pass The Gavel and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, July, 15, 2020, at the online AAJ’s Amped-Up Convention due to COVID-19.
Clifford also will be honored at the AAJ Fourth Annual Evergreen Fund Reception Monday, July 13, for his contributions in continuing to make AAJ successful as an AAJ Evergreen Advisory Board member. The Evergreen Fund supports AAJ’s efforts to develop and implement initiatives that protect and shape the future of the civil justice system and preserve the right to trial by jury, tenets long supported by Clifford through his efforts on a local and national level.
Clifford will be featured in an upcoming issue of Trial Magazine on the acceptance of the award and his contributions to the profession and the plaintiffs’ bar.
