Shannon McNulty to Speak at 2025 ISBA Allerton Conference on AI

Shannon M. McNulty, partner at Clifford Law Offices, will speak at the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) conference on artificial intelligence in Champaign, Illinois.

“Generative Artificial Intelligence—Fact or Fiction: Transforming the Legal Practice” will be held April 2-4 at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1900 S. First St., exploring hot topics impacting civil practice and procedure and the issues AI is creating for lawyers and judges.

Shannon McNulty will be speaking on a panel entitled “Artificial Intelligence Evidence in Litigation and Beyond,” which will discuss presenting AI as evidence at trial, DeepFakes in the Courtroom, and how AI is being used even when it hasn’t been disclosed. The panel will be moderated by George Bellas of Bellas & Wachowski. McNulty will be joined by the Hon. Jonathan E. Hawley (C.D. Ill.), the Hon. Iain D. Johnston (N.D. Ill.), and the University of Illinois Prof. Anita Nikolich will present a “deep-fake” demonstration.

Other topics to be discussed include digital and data security of AI and comments from the bench, which will include Cook County Circuit Court Judge Joel Chupack, 22nd Judicial Circuit Court Judge Michael Chmiel, Illinois Appellate Court Fourth District Justice Eugene Doherty, and First Judicial Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey Goffinet, who serves as a Co-Chair of the Illinois Supreme Court AI Task Force.

A panel, which includes Illinois State Sen. Steve McClure (R-54th Dist.) and Illinois State Rep. Travis Weaver (R-93rd Dist.), will also discuss the legislative perspective of generative AI.

The 2025 Allerton Conference will open with a dinner on Wednesday, April 2, and registration includes receptions and dinners following the programs. For more information or to register, click here.
