The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently revealed that the Volkswagen emissions scam extends to thousands more cars including the 2015 Porsche Cayenne, the 2014 Touareg and the several more Audi models. In September, it was revealed that as many as 11 million cars were affected worldwide.
The New York Times reported yesterday (Nov. 2, 2015) that the EPA discovered emissions-cheating software on more vehicles than previously reported, and now has found the illegal software even on the high-end Porsche. Again, the company has pledged its cooperation. The CEO of VW stepped down only to be replaced by the previous head of the Porsche division.
The EPA said in a release that the following models also are being examined for violations of the U.S. Clear Air Act: 2014 Touareg, 2015 Porsche Cayenne and the Audi A6 Quattro, A7 Quattro, A8, A8L, and Q5.
In a release issued yesterday by the EPA, it said: “VW has once again failed its obligation to comply with the law that protects clean air for all Americans,” said Cynthia Giles, Assistant Administrator for the Office for EPA’s Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. “All companies should be playing by the same rules. EPA, with our state, and federal partners, will continue to investigate these serious matters, to secure the benefits of the Clean Air Act, ensure a level playing field for responsible businesses, and to ensure consumers get the environmental performance they expect.”

Clifford Law Offices was one of the first law firms in the country to file a class action against what was once the leading car manufacturer in the world. Currently, those proceedings, filed in federal court in Chicago, have been stayed pending a hearing on Dec. 3. That means that all cases remain where they are in court until all of the cases filed across the country are consolidated and it is determined which single judge will hear the entire action so that everyone is treated fairly and the court action is streamlined.
